In my years as a coach and leading in Learning and Development, I've witnessed countless benefits when leaders embrace saying "yes."
Saying "yes" opens doors, fosters innovation, and expands horizons.
A senior leader I worked with had a common struggle with both delegation and perfectionism. After a session and a commitment to try something different, the leader met with a team member for their 1:1. During the 1:1, the team member shared a client growth opportunity idea. Then and there, they decided to say "yes.” This small "yes" sparked a tidal wave of creativity for team, and excitement for the client. The results were huge.
Speaking for myself, saying “yes” has opened an incredible number of opportunities and growth:
I got my start in L&D saying “yes” to something that didn’t exist.
I found a passion for acting saying “yes” to a friend that needed someone for a short play.
I traveled across the US and India, working with 1000’s after saying “yes” to facilitating an unconscious bias workshop.
Starting my own business was saying “yes” to myself and my passion.
And so many more “yes’s” over the years…
In a rapidly evolving business landscape, it's essential for leaders to move away from limitations and conventional thinking. Saying "yes" enables us to seize new opportunities but also empowers our teams to unleash their full potential.
Do something different, let's unlock the transformative power of "yes". Say "yes" to new ideas, "yes" to collaboration, and "yes" to becoming the catalysts of change your team and organization needs.
How has saying “yes” impacted your career?
