Embrace The Learning Curve

Raise your hand 🙋‍♂️ if you like the feeling of failure when you start learning something new...

Back in January, I wrote a short post about "be brave enough to suck at something new." A month later and I still resonate with those thoughts.

As a coach and someone who is working with leaders, understanding the learning curve is vital in preparing for the inevitable frustrations that come when learning a new skill or process.

Starting something new means that progress will be slow and you'll feel like you're not good. But it's not just you... it's everyone.

That's part of being new.

In those beginning phases of anything new, you're going to doubt yourself, you'll think you aren't any good, and often you'll want to give up. Look at the below example of a growth curve for learning.

Notice that the beginning is slow and doesn't change much. Hang in there, the acceleration will come.

I believe in you.
