What kind of accountability do you prefer? Who are you accountable to?
During the first meeting with a new client, we dive into accountability as throughout our engagement there will be asks, challenges, and even some "homework."
Some people do great being accountable to themselves, at least for the smaller things.
However, when someone is ready to commit to ongoing change, accountability with someone outside of themselves can change the equation.
Accountability can look different depending on your situation and goals.
1:1 - Have a coach or mentor that you're accountable to while working on specific goals. You own that process. Your coach/mentor shouldn't need to check-in with you, they're not your manager. Thank you to my coach Frances VanHouten for pushing me.
Accountabilitibuddies - This is an arrangement for 2-5 people for shared accountability. Each of you has goals and you're holding each other accountable. I stole the name from Kristen Wilkinson. Thanks to Matt N. for being my accountabilibuddy and pushing me further.
Group Accountability - Similar to Accountabilibuddies, this is group based but is likely more formal. It can take many forms from Mastermind groups to network meetings to group coaching, and may include training and homework. As I started my practice last year, the accountability of Katrin Mantay 🧚🏻♀️ PCC and the rest of the team was instrumental in my process of launching. Finding the right group is paramount to success.
